Our Story: From Melbourne to Perth, for the Love of Cats

MeAura was born from a cross-country move, two cats named Yuyuan and Mochi, and a frustration we couldn't ignore.

When we relocated from Melbourne to Perth, we discovered what every WA resident knows too well: the "East Coast shipping penalty." But our frustration started even before the move. Like many cat parents, we'd spent years buying standard plush cat trees—only to watch fur get hopelessly trapped in the fabric, and find ourselves stuck in a wasteful cycle of buying, ruining, and throwing away.

We wanted something different: solid wood, natural rattan, a piece our cats would love and our living room wouldn't have to hide. But in WA, the options were almost non-existent—cheap chipboard towers on one end, or premium East Coast designs with eye-watering freight costs and months-long waits on the other. WA cat parents were an afterthought.

So we decided to change that. After screening dozens of manufacturers, we partnered directly with top-tier solid wood and hand-woven rattan furniture makers—cutting out the East Coast middlemen and bringing designer-quality cat furniture straight to Western Australia at honest prices.

We're a Perth-based startup, and we're proud of it. Right now, every order is personally quality-checked by us in our Perth garage. We operate on a pre-order model—not as a compromise, but as a deliberate choice to keep prices fair and quality uncompromised. It means a short wait, but it also means you're helping us build toward something bigger: a fully-stocked local warehouse so future WA cat parents never have to wait at all.

Yuyuan and Mochi are still our toughest quality testers. Every piece we sell has to pass their standards first.
